When the European Commission announced the Intelligent City Challenge competition for cities, Piotr Borawski, Deputy Mayor of Gdańsk for entrepreneurship and climate protection appointed Gdansk project team. The Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC) is a European Commission initiative bringing together 126 cities to achieve intelligent, socially responsible and sustainable growth through advanced technologies. The 2.5-year program builds on the success of the Digital Cities Challenge, which already helped 41 EU cities develop a strategic vision and roadmap for their digital transformations. Joanna Tobolewicz (Plenipotentiary President for Energy, CRUNCH team) was appointed Gdansk ICC team leader, Tomasz Szymczak (Starter), Krzysztof Garski (IT Office, CRuNCH team) and Mateusz Bonecki (PICTEC) are the partners forming the knowledge exchange platform. The Gdansk application was supported by the Urban Initiative Laboratory, Gdańsk University of Technology, the WSB University, the University of Gdańsk and the INTERIZON cluster. Thus, CRUNCH gained a new platform for disseminating the FWE NEXUS capacity. More information:
