CRUNCH Project Idea
|
Krajobraz miejski jest intensywnie przekształcany, a systemy opadów, cykle hydrologiczne, produktywność ekosystemu, bilans energetyczny i lokalny klimat są zakłócane i modyfikowane. Projekt CRUNCH, dzięki swojemu systemowemu podejściu, umożliwi zdefiniowanie koncepcji i metodologii miejskiego systemu zamkniętej pętli (opartego na gospodarce o obiegu zamkniętym). Wszystkie zaangażowane miasta biorą udział w eksperymentalnych miejskich laboratoriach (ULL), testując i analizując modele różne scenariusze. Zadania eksperymentalne projektu CRUNCH zostaną poprzedzone badaniami podstawowymi, przeprowadzonymi głównie na Politechnice Gdańskiej i Gdańsku, np .: badanie, strukturyzacja i synteza istniejącej wiedzy, opracowanie modelu analizy porównawczej, modelowanie danych, analiza przypadków, projekt koncepcyjny proponowanych rozwiązań urbanistycznych, analiza ilościowa i jakościowa, analiza odporności, identyfikacja możliwych do przeniesienia rozwiązań.
The urban landscape is intensively transformed, and precipitation systems, hydrological cycles, productivity of the ecosystem, energy balance and local climate are all disrupted and modified. The CRUNCH project, thanks to its systemic approach, will enable to define the concept and metodology of the city close-loop-system (Circular Economy based). The CRUNCH project represents mainly a theoretical approach, and does not have a direct implementation possibilities. It's main scope concentrates on methodology of collecting knowledge and setting cross-sectoral indicators, which will be common for different locations (cities). CRUNCH will demonstrate how the Food-Water-Energy Nexus can strenghten urban resilience by creating an interconnected knowledge platform with cross-sectorial indicators for a support tool/assesment framework (the Integrated Decission Support System). All the involved cities are taking part in experimental urban laboratories (ULLs), testing and analysing the models using different scenarios. The experimental tasks of the CRUNCH project will be preceeded by the basic research, held mainly at Gdansk University of Technology and the city of Gdansk eg: examining, structuring and synthesising the existing knowledge, elaborating comparative analysis model, data modeling, case studies analysis, conceptual design of proposed urban solutions, quantitive and qualitive analysis, resilience analysis, idetifying transferable solutions.

NEXUS Square

It is assumed that in the selected environment, the interactions between the pavilion / square and the green wall will allow to experience (and check) the possibility of combining food and energy in one water cycle. For research purposes, a FWE NEXUS prototype will be set up in the selected location, consisting of three technologically interconnected elements. An example configuration of these elements (pavilion, square and wall) is shown in the figure. During the research experiment, quantitative and qualitative measurements of flows will be carried out, which will then be quantified and described. It is assumed that technologies and solutions that will not work may be changed during the course of the research. The goal is to find and develop appropriate local links in FWE NEXUS so that they can also be used in other, larger scales and locations. In this way, technologies and solutions that can be used to close the flow of food, energy and water will be tested in real urban conditions.
