JPI Urban Europe, współorganizatorzy sesji tematycznej pt. “SUGI: Tackling urban challenges by co-creating knowledge on food-water-energy nexus” zaprosili aby podzielić się doświadczeniami z pracy nad projektem CRUNCH w Gdańsku. On October 7-9, 2019, the African Climate Risk Conference 2019 was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. One of the aims of the African Climate Risk Conference 2019 was to show how the work carried out under SUGI projects in Europe can be used in the context of African urbanization and climate change. JPI Urban Europe, co-organizers of the thematic session entitled "SUGI: Tackling urban challenges by co-creating knowledge on food-water-energy nexus" invited to share their experience of working on the CRUNCH project in Gdańsk. The emphasis was on identifying the right ways to overcome difficulties in applying innovative design solutions in the public sphere that require cooperation at the interface between the city and science. The modular solution proposed by the Urban Innovation Laboratory in the CRUNCH project has been received with great interest in the international forum. The concept was considered innovative because the introduction of Food-Water-Energy Nexus into the urban space is carried out using a modular solution, with the active participation of the city and its users. CRUNCH uses the goal of connecting potentials in closing energy, water, heat, food and information flows in one closed circuit as the main design guideline of the prototype. The possibility of creating such a first facility in Gdansk - a potential attractor, focusing activity and enlivening the indicated space, which will enable simultaneous monitoring of social activity and changes in the functioning of the place, is a unique experience; including an example of good cooperation at the interface between the city and science.
