Piotr Lorens
Urbanista, profesor zwyczajny i kierownik Katedry Urbanistyki I Planowania Regionalnego na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Gdańskiej. Zajmuje się problematyką transformacji struktur miejskich, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zagadnień związanych z przekształceniami przestrzeni publicznych, rewitalizacji terenów zdegradowanych oraz ponownego zagospodarowania obszarów poprzemysłowych i nadwodnych. Kwestiom tym poświęcił szereg publikacji, w tym zarówno artykułów, wystąpień konferencyjnych jak i opracowań monograficznych. Jest także redaktorem i współredaktorem wielu publikacji zbiorowych, w tym pozycji z serii „Miasto – Metropolia – Region” jak i wydawanych w ramach „Biblioteki Urbanisty”. Aktywnie współpracuje z szeregiem ośrodków naukowych w kraju jak i za granicą – w tym m.in. z Massachusetts Institute of Technology, gdzie – jako stypendysta Fulbrighta – przebywał na studiach w latach 1996-97. Jego kontakty naukowe obejmują także szereg uczelni położonych w krajach Europy (m.in. we Francji, Niemczech, Portugalii, Rosji) jak i w Azji (Hong Kong) czy Afryce (Egipt, Afryka Południowa). Niezależnie od pracy naukowo – dydaktycznej zaangażowany jest także w prace Komitetu Przestrzennego Zagospodarowania Kraju Polskiej Akademii Nauk, w ramach którego prowadzi prace Zespołu ds. Obszarów Miejskich i Metropolitalnych KPZK PAN. W kadencji 2015 – 2018 pełnił także funkcję Prezesa Towarzystwa Urbanistów Polskich. Ponadto, w latach 2011 – 2017 jako wiceprezydent Międzynarodowego Stowarzyszenia Planistów Miejskich i Regionalnych ISOCARP odpowiedzialny był za przygotowanie i realizację szeregu programów szkoleniowych dla młodych planistów m.in. w Chinach, Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich oraz w Wielkiej Brytanii. W ramach pełnionych obowiązków zainicjował m.in. uruchomienie dorocznej Gdyńskiej Letniej Szkoły Urbanistyki. Jako ekspert i projektant współpracuje także z szeregiem podmiotów, zarówno publicznych jak i prywatnych przy przygotowaniu rozmaitych opracowań planistycznych i przygotowaniu realizacji przedsięwzięć urbanistycznych. W szczególności wymienić tu należy projekt Młode Miasto w Gdańsku – dotyczący transformacji terenów postoczniowych – z którym to przedsięwzięciem związany jest od ponad 20 lat. Jest także członkiem Miejskiej Komisji Urbanistyczno – Architektonicznej w Gdyni oraz pełnił funkcję Przewodniczącego Rady Studium Uwarunkowań i Kierunków Zagospodarowania Przestrzennego Miasta Gdańska (w latach 2015 – 2017). |

Urban planner, Professor and Head of the Department of Urban Design and Regional Planning AT the Faculty of Architecture, Gdansk University of Technology. His professional interests include transformation of urban structures with a special focus on reshaping the public spaces, revitalization of distressed areas as well as with regeneration of post-industrial sites and urban waterfronts. These issues were subject of many of His publications, including articles, conference and congress papers as well as books. Piotr is also an editor and co-editor of a number of the volumes. He is also actively involved in cooperation with a number of universities both in Poland and in other countries, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As the Fulbright Scholar, Piotr spent a year at MIT within years 1996-97. The network of His scientific contacts include also a number of the universities within Europe (i.e. in France, Germany, Portugal, Russia), Asia (Hong Kong) and Africa (South Africa, Egypt). Aside from His scientific and teaching assignments Piotr Lorens is also involved in the works of the Committee for Spatial Economy and Regional Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences, within which He leads the works of the team dealing with urban and metropolitan areas. In the term of 2015 – 2018 Piotr served as the President of the Society of Polish Town Planners and within the term 2011 – 2017 was appointed as the Vice President of the International Society of City and Regional Planners. Within this assignment was responsible for preparation and implementation of numerous training and educational programs for young planning professionals in China, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom (to name just a few). Also, within these years Piotr has initiated the Gdynia Urban Summer School which has become a yearly program. As the external expert Piotr is frequently invited to work on planning and implementation of various types of urban interventions, both by public and private institutions and companies. One of the most important of those assignments is associated with the Young City site in Gdansk – the post-shipyard area – which is subject of His interest since over 20 years. He is also serving as the member of the Gdynia Municipal Architecture and Planning Commission and – within years 2015 – 2017 – was appointed to chair the works of the Master Plan Commission for the City of Gdansk. |
